She and her friend, Archer, spot a strange looking woman wearing tight pants and a strange kind of shirt they had never seen before. But no one else believes she's there or that she carries something very deadly.

Gran's love, a housekeeper in a wealthy home, takes her in at Gran's request. Adella learns to work as a servant and how to fit in with the people lower in class than she's used to mingling with.
Dangers thicken as Adella finds out that Patrick Crawford has found out where she is and has come to claim her. They all soon realize that he is willing to stoop to low tricks to clear the humility away from his name over Adella's abandonment. When the only two people she has left to love are threatened, she has to decide if she will honor her word or keep her freedom.

Cecily's country is at war. She shouldn't be surprised when she's kidnapped from her very own room. Already outraged, she's told that the enemy dictator wants wives for his sons and that is the purpose she is there. She tries to stay the proud ruler of her country in the presence of her adversaries, but one of the princes' attitudes makes her want to scream. She turns on all the tricks she knows to get Aladar to help her escape.
Surprisingly enough to both of them, he agrees. But where will they go? And will Cecily decide to do what she can to help Aladar with his peculiar problem?

Three weeks after Aladar leaves, Cecily finds herself in a strange predicament. Her palace leveled to the ground and only three people, including herself, having lived through it, she looks for Aladar. The reason he left no longer matters.
Aladar has been caught by his father and is sent to capture Cecily once more, his memory having been temporarily wiped. Until something triggers a memory that wasn't quite erased. By then it's too late. Damage has been done.
Together Aladar and Cecily fight against Maverick and Darryn. But in Cecily's state of health and Aladar's confusion, will there be any hope for them at all?
